Tyrese Proctor was one of my top returning players for the 2023-24 college basketball season, and I expected him to emerge as a lottery pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, which was considered to be a weaker class sandwiched between the strong 2023 and 2025 classes. While Proctor averaged 10.5 points per game and led Duke with 118 assists in his sophomore season, he didn’t have the breakout year I anticipated. An ankle injury slowed his progress and caused him to miss some time, and although he improved in certain areas, he made the right decision to return to school as he wasn’t a lock to get drafted.
