It’s been said many times that the 2026 NBA Draft class is special. I’ve said it myself several times. We haven’t seen a freshman class this deep at the top in a very long time. I honestly believe there are three players worthy of being the number one pick: Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, and Cameron Boozer. But past the big three, this class is flooded with point guard talent.

The point guard position in the NBA is in a bit of a transition. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen the definition of the position change. NBA teams are favoring bigger guards as offenses across the league rely less on traditional pick & roll basketball and more on exploiting mismatches. It’s becoming harder and harder to hide a small defender, which causes defenses to scramble and leads to open shots.

So with the role going through yet another makeover, how will this year’s class be affected by the evolution?

Note: At some point especially with the way the game is trending Darryn Peterson will be the primary playmaker for an NBA team. He’s going to dominate the ball and a franchise will build around him. Until then, I’m omitting him from this article.

What follows is my Top 10 Point Guards in the 2026 NBA Draft, as things stand right now.

1. Mikel Brown Jr. - Louisville

Even with Brown’s shooting struggles this season, I believe he’s the best point guard in this class.
