Meet Benjamin Berrouet: The Dallas Prospect Dominating the FIBA U16 EuroBasket
Berrouet’s combination of size, strength, mobility and production has made him one of the most intriguing early names for the 2029 NBA Draft.
Every summer there are a handful of players who use FIBA youth tournaments to introduce themselves to a much larger basketball audience.
Benjamin Berrouet didn’t necessarily need an introduction.
The 6’8”, 240 pound forward from McKinney, Texas was already considered one of the top prospects in the high school class of 2028 and had put together a dominant sophomore season in the Dallas area. His recruitment was already filled with high major interest, and after transferring to Dynamic Prep, he’ll spend his junior season playing for former NBA All Star Jermaine O’Neal.
But what Berrouet is doing for Latvia at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket in Romania has taken things to another level.
Through five games, Berrouet is averaging 23.4 points, 15.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 4 blocks per game, while shooting 58 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line on nine attempts per game.
Latvia is 5-0 and will face Spain in Friday’s semifinal with an opportunity to play for a European championship.
