Former Kentucky lead guard DJ Wagner is set for a fresh start in his sophomore season after following John Calipari to Arkansas. Once rated as the No. 1 player in the class of 2023, Wagner’s freshman campaign at Kentucky didn’t quite live up to expectations, though he still showed glimpses of his potential. He averaged 9.9 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game, earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors three times in 2023-24. Wagner ranked seventh in the SEC in assist/turnover ratio (2.23) and 12th in assists per game (3.3). On track to become the first third-generation NBA player—following in the footsteps of his father, Dajuan Wagner, and grandfather, Milt Wagner—he’s looking to rebound from a challenging freshman year and reestablish his standing as a top prospect.
