It's a miracle that the Atlanta Hawks even made the playoffs this season with how the roster performed as it pertained to shooting the basketball. According to Synergy Sports Technology, the Hawks had the 2nd lowest points per possession on spot-ups in the entire NBA for the 2022-2023 Regular Season at 0.980. Given that the spot-up play type is the most common way that NBA teams score on average, with a median frequency of 23.4% of all possessions, it's imperative for the Hawks to solve the floor-spacing issue if they want to contend in the foreseeable future. They have one of the best offensive floor-raisers in the world in Trae Young, and a great defensive floor-raiser in Clint Capela, who protects the rim and rebounds at a high rate. The next step for this franchise is to continue adding portable shooters specializing in spacing the floor. Here are some excellent shooting wings from this draft that the Hawks should look to target:
