Rookie and Sophomore Trade Targets
With the NBA trade deadline nine days away, I’m going to dig into some trade ideas that I’ve heard around the league — this time centered on rookies and sophomores from the 2020 and 2021 draft classes as well as upcoming draft picks for the 2022 NBA Draft.
While most rookies and sophomores won’t be considered in trade discussions and a few — Evan Mobley, LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes — look untouchable, there are several deals involving rookies and sophomores that could make sense at the trade deadline.
To be clear, I am not telling you that these trades are likely, or that the talks are definitely happening at the moment.
Rather, this is what some NBA executives think could happen, or at least what they think would work.
